60” Transmission Water Main Emergency Repairs

Description

The project consisted of the emergency pipe repair of a 60-inch PCCP Water Main damaged by an auger installing a new light post at the railroad crossing on NW 67 Street west of NW 37 Ave. The project was done on an emergency basis with Ric-Man Construction Florida, Inc Florida providing all labor and equipment to remove and replace the damaged pipe. The project was adjacent to a railroad which operates the Tri-Rail. The pipe was repaired by cutting and removing the damaged 16-foot length and replacing with a new 60-inch repair kit at the Department SWWF yard (10-foot short, closure and adapters). The water main was shut down, deactivated and dewatered.

The work of this project included, immediate mobilization; continuous daily work until the 60-inch water main was returned to service; dewatering groundwater; cutting and removing the damaged 60-inch PCCP main; installation of a 60-inch PCCP repair kit that includes a 60-inch short length, adapters and closure; loading hauling and transporting the 60-inch repair materials from the WASD storage yards at the Southwest Wellfield; sheeting and shoring to control the trench and prevent damage to the railroad facilities; obtaining the services of an FPL approved contractor to support the electrical utility poles; removal of the guy wires for the power poles; excavation under FPL wires; installing new pipe bedding for the concrete pipe; site restoration; traffic control; maintaining access to the adjacent trucking company; field locating all utilities; testing the installed pipe length at system pressure; furnishing any addition backfill; cleaning the storm sewers and drainage area upon completion of the work; and all other appurtenant and miscellaneous items and work for a complete, fully functional and satisfactory project located in the City of Hialeah within Miami-Dade County, Florida.
